This is indeed a rare machine (at least, here in the States). I found this one on eBay in Germany. This is the first, last, and only one I've ever seen. I've only just received this machine, and have not had a chance to clean it up.

What's especially different about this model is the stitch controls. This is the only machine in the 400 series that I've seen that has controls like this.
It shares the same double thread take-up levers as does the rest of the German made machines.
And it has the same features that would allow it to be set up as a treadle.
Also like the other German made 400 series machines, the bobbin winder is on the top of the machine, instead of on a flip-up lever on the front.
This one must have been made for sale in Europe, as it's wired for 220 volts.
Yep, made in Germany.
A very nice accessory is this snap-on storage box. It acts like a table extension, similar to the fold-down beds on the Featherweight and the 301.
And you can indeed store things in the drawers.
